Lakers Aim for 18th Title
The Los Angeles Lakers, carrying a record of 47-35, begin their quest for an 18th NBA championship tonight at 5:30 pm PT on ABC. They'll face the reigning champion Denver Nuggets on the road in the opening game of their playoff series.
A year ago, when the Lakers and Nuggets met in the playoffs, the Lakers were weary and worn down. This time around, however, the atmosphere is different. Denver is favored by six points in Game 1, with an estimated score of 114 to 108 for the Lakers.
Despite the underdog status, the Lakers put on a strong performance in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals on Friday night, earning a 126-114 victory over the Nuggets. Led by LeBron James, the Lakers showed their resilience and determination.
However, the Nuggets, led by two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, responded in Game 2 with a 132-126 win at Ball Arena in Denver. The Nuggets now hold a 1-0 lead in the Western Conference series.
